I'm originally from
Holmdel, a small town in central
New Jersey, so I'm really not that used to this cold weather. I've had
to wear long underwear for most of the year. Just thought you'd like
to know. This is the first time I've ever really been out in the
midwest, and I must admit i was a bit culture shocked when i first got
here (like how they say "pop" instead of "soda"), but the people are
generally nice. I do miss the east coast at times though.
Like I said, I'm from Holmdel where I lived for just about most of my life. I was originally born in Waterbury, Connecticut and lived there for the very first years of my life. Then somehow I ended up in Canada for 6 months. I don't remember much about this first two places, but I guess I was just too young. Back to the US i went where I moved to Howell, New Jersey and lived there for a couple years until k-school. That's where my little bro was born. Finally in k-school we moved to Holmdel, and I've lived there ever since. Holmdel, you say? What's in Holmdel? Well not that much. It's your typical suburb that used to be farmland but now is full of rich doctors and lawyers--or engineers if your Chinese. Yes, we are the home of Bell Labs, and all of that other dorky stuff. Both of my parents work for Lucent, formerly part of AT&T-- very typical of asians in my town. I go to school in Michigan now, quite a change from home, but its all good. Since i'm premed, I guess i'm just a big old nerd, but I try to play some b-ball, hockey, and soccer when I have time. The best part of college for me has been the church I'm involved with, Harvest Mission Community Church. I truly believe I was brought to Michigan for that reason. I would also try to ski a lot, but the skiing SUCKS IN MICHIGAN! Oh, I didn't mention that I'm pretty much obsessed with the sport. I've been skiing for eleven years now and have never been bored with it. Well since there's no real skiing here, I have to fly out to Colorado or someplace out west to get some real skiing in--that only happens once or twice a season. Eh, maybe I should of gone to Berkeley and skied at Tahoe all the time... then again, I've seen the campus and Telegraph Road which makes me wonder about all those crazy Cali people. hehe, j/k Wei. Did I mention yet how the weather is always cold here? Its my complaint of choice. It's hard to get up in the morning when its so cold outside, and i just want to sleep in most of the days. But I think I learned my lesson quite well freshman year about the detriments of missing class, and staying up later for that matter. heh, freshman. I think you know more than you've ever wanted to about me, so I'm gonna stop now.
